May is Mental Health Awareness Month—a time to shine a light on the often-unspoken challenges many of us face. For mothers, especially those navigating the journey alone, this month holds profound significance.
The Weight We Carry
Motherhood is a beautiful journey, but it can also be overwhelming. The pressures of nurturing, providing, and maintaining a household can take a toll on our mental well-being. It’s essential to acknowledge these feelings and understand that seeking help is a sign of strength, not weakness.
Maternal Mental Health Matters
This May, from the 5th to the 11th, we observe Maternal Mental Health Awareness Week, with World Maternal Mental Health Day on May 7th. These observances aim to raise awareness about the mental health challenges mothers face and to promote resources and support systems available to help. Organizations like Postpartum Support International and The Blue Dot Project are leading the charge in providing education and support for maternal mental health.
Resources and Support
If you’re struggling, know that you’re not alone. There are resources available to support you:

Embracing the Journey
As chain breaking moms, we have the power to redefine our narratives. By acknowledging our struggles and seeking support, we set a precedent for our children and communities. Let’s use this month to prioritize our mental health, share our stories, and support one another.
Remember, you’re not alone, and it’s okay to ask for help.
Let’s break the chains of silence and stigma surrounding mental health—together.
If you or someone you know is in crisis, please call or text 988 for immediate assistance.
