SINGLE MOM GRACE

At times I worry so much on being the best mom that I can be. I have to remind myself just like I am learning to be a parent my child is learning themselves through life as a teenager. For a while I was really hard on them but then I also realize they have to learn from their own mistakes in life. I think of how our father in heaven is towards us. One who is merciful and shows so much grace to us through many mistakes that I have made in my own life. I have to say I really learned the hard way. I do not ever want to see my own go through any of the things that I went through. However, my kids should not suffer because of my past. So I try to grow with them as all four of my kids are all unique. None of them are the same at all and have their own ways. It can make it really hard at times. As a single mom I have to stand by them even through their mistakes. It is a huge difference if one of them is doing things intentionally but when one does something that I know they regret and I see the shame all over their face. I know that they have suffered enough by the shame that is attached to them through what they have done wrong. Learning to have discernment and as a parent to not jump in anger or frustration but out of love is a big difference. A child can learn a lot more from a parent when they remember the grace that you showed them more than even a spanking at times. The way even GOD is towards us as parents. His word says spare the rod spoil the child which I do believe at a certain age spankings are required but when they are growing up becoming adults themselves they become to old for a spanking. As a parent pray for discernment and allow him to speak to you through those moments that a child may even need to here more grace than anything.
